A Student Review of Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game released on March 10, 2020, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is a part of the 2019 title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but does not require purchase of it. Warzone was developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software.

Positives

This game isn’t perfect but it’s still a great game. I raged a lot but mostly because it was my fault or my team’s. I’m going to start off with the positives.

  1. The map is a decent size for the amount of players.
  2. The money system is great but I hope they add more stuff to buy to help players win the game such as equipment like grenades instead of always looking for equipment.
  3. You’re always doing something like completing side objectives to get more money and because of this there’s sometimes not a lot of campers. The side objectives are fun but I hope they add more.
  4. The way the circle closes is just right, I never found myself in a hurry to get to the next circle or dying by the circle as often, there are gas masks to stay outside the circle for 15 seconds but I never really used it or found someone who used it against me.
  5. I like the loadout you can buy, people say there’s no point to finding guns afterwards but I still find myself unprepared and needing a new gun sometimes, the only thing is that they are easy to get and if you combine your money with your teammates you can easily get them early game. Maybe increasing the cost will be better.
  6. Speaking of guns I thought I was going to hate not being able to find my own attachments for my gun but finding the rarity isn’t half bad.
  7. Coming back to life is a hit and miss and I’ll tell you why.

Negatives

  1. The two ways to come back to life is either from money that you teammates can earn(which is fine) or when you die for the first time in the game you will be sent to the Gulag where you can 1v1 with another player to fight to get back into the game. If you lose your team will have to earn the money to release you. I like this and hate this at the same time because everyone has those dumb games where they die the first few seconds landing but it sometimes takes to long to wait for an opponent and the random guns given to the players are hot ass. Some people say take the gulag out and just keep the money system but I think they should just tweak it a little.
  2. The armor is a mehhhhh. I don’t like the fact the armor protects your health completely like fortnite, kinda like how blackout did it but don’t like how in blackout you have to find certain levels of armor. I liked how in blackout you shoot skin you damage health and you shoot armor you damage armor. I like the armor plates you equip on warzone just don’t like how the armor protects the players health.
  3. I never got killed by an airstrike, but I also never faced a person with that kill streak, so I’m afraid when I get to the end of a circle I don’t want that fear of getting blown up.

In conclusion it is a very fun game to play and I highly recommend this game while we are in quarantine.
