My Role Model: Marsai Martin

Since February is Black History Month, I was asked about who is one of my black role models. For this article I will be writing about Marsai Martin. We were first introduced to Marsai Martin when she first played Diane Johnson on the comedy sitcom “Black-ish.”She made her first national commercial appearance at the age of five. Her real name is Celia but Marsai is her middle name. She loves pineapple on her pizza which a lot of people might think it is disgraceful but it is very good.

Now, back to why she really is a role model. At the age of fourteen she executively produced her movie “Little” which won her a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Role in a Motion Picture Award. She set the world record of being the youngest in history to be an executive producer and star in her own movie. She also helped launch a national campaign to fight bullying and social isolation. She also attended a red carpet for an Safety Awareness Charity Event to help people in need.

That is why my role model is Marsai Martin.
