Recently many young people have started to care about their body image. Mostly pertaining to their skin. There are varis youtube videos that talk about how to get perfect even skin and promising that if you buy their product that you’ll have flawless smooth glowing skin. Something that some teenagers and parents may not know is that there’s an entire profession that deals with skin and may just be perfect for you.

It’s called a dermatologist. The textbook definition of a  dermatologist according to  Oxford Languages is “a medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders.” I know the main thing that people want to know is “ How much do I get paid”? Most dermatologists get paid from 32 thousand to 460 thousand dollars a year. This could be depending on where you work if you’re a high class dermatologist in high demand. Or even if you’re a person of color that specializes in darker skin tones. Your pay could also depend on your having high class profiles coming to you for check ups or whatever the case may be.

Now for what we’re all dreading. How long do you have to be in college for? AN average dermatologist has to go to college for about 12 years. Most people wouldn’t want to go to college that long so I’ll offer some other medical alternatives. You could become a Pharmacist. They have to go to school for about 8 years and they get paid from 60 thousand to 160 thousand dollars a year. You could be a  Podiatrist, which is a doctor for your feet and nails. The Oxford Languages definition is “a person who treats the feet and their ailments.” They make from 88 thousand to 390 thousand dollars depending on the position you’re in. They only go to school for about four years. All of these alternatives make good money and go to school for a lesser amount of time. If you’re considering something in the medical field you can pick any of these occupations.
