National Pepper Month
November 12, 2021
November first marks the beginning of National Pepper Month, Created to bring awareness to The farmers who worked hard to grow and ship out these spicy fruits. Throughout many different cultures across the world peppers are used in recipes and enjoyed in many dishes, all while being mixed and mashed in many different ways. These spicy delights aren’t anything knew though humans have been using them for six thousand years, some types of peppers have even been transported during the spice trade, an ancient trade network that spanned from Asia to Europe playing an influential part in history. Cutting to modern times peppers are still being traded around the world and still being enjoyed albeit with more ease and less bandit raids. Peppers aren’t just being used in local cultures though many chefs are fans of the ingredient chef Ivor Cryderman says “I love the fruitiness of the Scotch bonnet. Its use in Caribbean and soul food to bring heat along with a sweet ripe flavor is something I have always really enjoyed.” another chef, chef Tavis peters said “Oh man, I love so many different chili peppers. The world owes its chili obsession gratitude to our beloved chiltepin, which is just another reason why Tucson freaking rocks so hard.” It’s evident That peppers are a widely enjoyed ingredient across the globe and will continue to be so, And this month does its job in shining a light on these influential little fruits.
