Caring Career: Therapist

The career I’ve chosen is a therapist. I would like to become a therapist because I enjoy talking to people and helping them with their problems. It’s an interesting job and learning about it was even more interesting. I got a lot more insight from my research. Being a therapist is a rewarding and challenging profession that involves helping people navigate and overcome their mental health issues.

Whether you are a psychologist, social worker, counselor, or psychiatrist, being a therapist requires a unique blend of empathy, compassion and scientific knowledge. Becoming a therapist comes with many responsibilities and duties. You help mental disorders and diagnose the disorders, you facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, follow up with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients admitted to the hospital, follow up with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients admitted to the hospital, and assisting family members and primary caregivers in managing mental behavioral challenges.

In order to qualify as a professional therapist, you must have at least a master’s degree. It must be majored in psychology, counseling or a related field. You must also be licensed in the state you’re in. The employment outlook for this occupation is 6% (as fast as average). The job is projected to grow 23% from 2020-2023.

Being a therapist can be challenging, but also a very fulfilling profession. If you have a passion for helping others, strong communication skills, and a desire to stay current on the latest research, then a career as a therapist may be a great fit for you.
