Things to do in the Summer

School just ended, summer started and there’s one thing everyone needs, things to do in the summer! Some people are booked for the entire summer while others are laying around wondering what to do, which is probably what you’re doing right now. Well guess what, you’re in luck because I got some activities everyone can participate in this summer!

Everyone’s sitting at home and probably worn out so what you need is to be relaxed. Relaxing doesn’t just mean go home and sleep or sit around and watch television, you need to actually get RELAXED this summer. What are some things you could do to loosen up a bit?

  1. NAP IN A HAMMOCK

Taking a nap is whatever, but imagine napping in a hammock and how relaxing it would be especially with the shade of the trees and the breeze on ur face. Napping in a hammock also causes you to sleep faster and get a deeper and better sleep. A better sleep can decrease your anxiety levels and increase your memory. I thought sleeping in a hammock was just relaxing but it also benefits a lot more to your health!

  1. WATCH THE SUNSET

When you’re bored just go outside and watch the sunset, I would most definitely recommend watching from the top of a hill though, that’s where you’ll see it the best and get the full experience.  It’s scientifically proven that when watching a sunset your mind is free of everything and has time to reflect. If you live nearby, an amazing spot to view the sunset is at Garret Mountain, you get a high point and see everything from every angle. Go ahead and watch the sunset today, it’ll become a daily routine after the first time!

  1. GO TO A SPA

Going to a spa might seem weird or unnecessary but trust me it’s worth it. It helps with stress, aging, sleep, anxiety, headaches, and I could just go on and on. One of my most recommended ones nearby is Spa Blu in Totowa, NJ, the service and atmosphere is just amazing. If money is an issue don’t worry, create your own at home spa! 

Now that everyone’s off from school and summers here, the sun is out for a longer period of time. We have so much free time on our hands but nothing to do. What are some fun things you can do with friends and family this summer?

  1. ATTEND A CONCERT
    Attending a concert might seem like an okay thing to do but my first concert was a delight, I didn’t want the night to end. You feel the loud beats of your favorite artist in you and just want to shake a leg. Scientists say that going to a concert releases happy hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, improves brain function and longevity, provides essential social connection, and even relieves pain. What concert do you plan on going to this summer, oh yeah don’t forget to take your friends and plan ahead of time!
  2. HAVE A WATER BALLOON FIGHT

It may sound messy but after a while you just love the feeling, especially on a hot summer’s day. It may seem like a kiddie thing, but it’s better for older ages to play. Playing with water balloons help build skills in team effort, relieve stress, and you get healthy exercise. Next time you have balloons on hand, prank your friends with a water balloon fight. Just make sure you don’t go overboard while throwing those water balloons and have fun!

  1. GO CAMPING

Camping is one of the most old-school things to do but it’s just so fun, how could you let it go. It seems a little gross at first but once you get the hang of it you seem to forget that you’re even outside. Camping are also good for your body and mind. Camping is very beneficial to us since it helps strengthen relationships, gives opportunities to learn and develop new skills, you get a chance to unplug and get away from screens, you get to connect with nature, your stress reduces, and you get physical exercise. Lets not forget the fun part though, you get to enjoy every moment with friends and family!

Some people are lonely this summer and they have no other options other than to find stuff to do by themselves. You might not always be alone but sometimes you are and during those times you start to get really bored. What are some things you can do this summer when you’re alone?

  1. CLEAN YOUR ROOM

It may seem like a chore but its really not, well it is but that’s not the point. During cleaning it may seem boring but put on a good show and you’ll be in an entirely different mood. When you’re done you’ll see how much time has passed and you’ll see how your bedroom looks after all your hard work. Hey and guess what, maybe you’ll find that shirt that you haven’t seen for years!

  1. TRY ON YOUR CLOTHES / MAKE OUTFITS

Open up your closet, I bet you see so much stuff but when getting ready its as if you have nothing. Well guess what since you have nothing to do, take out that piece of clothing that you never wear because it does not match anything and try to make an outfit with it. While you’re at it, make some other outfits so next time you go out you’ll have something to wear. Oh yea, and you know those fancy clothes sitting in the back maybe try those on, they look like they’ve caught a lot of dust. Cant wait to see the outfits you made!

  1. MAKE A FORT

I know, I know it sounds very childish but trust me it’s fun. Its basically like having our own home in your own room. You can decorate it however and when you get bored of it, just take it down. You can use pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, lights, etc… to decorate and build your fort. Make it as big as you want and whatever colors you desire!

Overall, just don’t sit home this summer, go out and actually have some fun! If none of these ideas helped you, I don’t know what to do with you but I doubt that’ll happen. Good luck and have a safe summer!
