Dear therapists and psychologists of the world,
I want to thank you for your effort and contributions to the world by helping people who are going through bad moments. I don’t think most people would give up their time to understand and help other people as much as you do. In preparing this letter, one of the most interesting things I learned about you is that you need at least 7 years of schooling to work as a therapist. You had to get two degrees, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and sometimes a doctoral degree as well. To me, it is amazing that you would dedicate that many hours to helping other people through their emotional and mental troubles.
I know it must be difficult sometimes to comprehend or help many people. It’s incredible how you could transform a person who is feeling mentally bad into someone who feels ok or even happy. I can’t imagine what the mental health of our country would be without you. Another thing I found out was that 42 million people receive counseling or treatment every year. Of those 42 million, 75% of people who go to the therapist show an improvement in their mental/emotional health. This is incredible that most of your patients show improvement and could have a better life because of you.
Therapists like you have a lasting impact on many people. For example, I have a little cousin who was going through a rough time. I tried everything to help her, but she wasn’t improving that much. My uncle decided to put her with a therapist. In just 5 months, I saw her have a better mentality and not have that many problems with others. Because of this, I feel thankful that a person, who is not even close to our family, could change my cousin so much. I will never forget how they made my cousin feel better. Thank you for listening and understanding.
I wish you all the best in your future,
A Grateful MRHS Student
