Is volleyball difficult? Is it that famous? What makes volleyball different from any other sport? What are some tournaments of this sport?
This sport started in 1895 and continued developing, with more rules and different positions. The most famous volleyball tournaments are the Volleyball National League (VNL) and the one from the Olympics. Volleyball is renowned among young people, a lot of high school and college/university students play this sport. And some of them get into professional volleyball.
The VNL is a tournament between all countries. These countries Play against each other to get a top 16th. These will go to the VNL and play to win this tournament. The most famous teams that qualified for the VNL were Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, japan, and the USA. Each team plays 16 matches, 1 against each team at the tournament. Among all the teams the one that France took the victory with an amazing game against Japan.Â
By this, I will talk about each position on the volleyball court. First of all, we got the libero, he is the one in charge of the defense, and going for the difficult balls. An example of a libero is Tomohiro Yamamoto. This man is one of the fastest liberos in the world. He made a lot of amazing saves and passes to the team. This helps the team up to score more points. Usually, the liberos have the best reflects in the team.
Then we have the outside hitter. These are in charge of scoring points and blocking opponents or obstructing the path of the other spikers. Some famous outside hitters are Darlan Souza from Brazil, Yuji Nishida from Japan, and Tomasz Fornal from Poland.Â
However, Yuki Ishikawa from Japan won the Best Outside Hitter award. He was one of the most creative and explosive hitters in the tournament. This makes the other team struggle and helps Japan to make even more points and have more opportunities to attack.
Then we have the most difficult position in volleyball the setter. This person is in charge of setting/tossing the ball perfectly to the hitter so they can hit with all their strength. But for this, they need to see the position of the other team and make a quick decision as to who they should set. Some good and famous setters are Masahiro Sekita from Japan, Simeon Nikolov from Bulgaria, and Luciano de Cecco from Argentina. But the one that won the award was Antoine Brizard from France. He was able to make his hitters make a lot of points and breaks through their defense by tricking the blockers. And make some dumps to make some points. Antonine Brizard made 250 good sets.Â
The last but not the worst is the middle blockers. They are in charge of blocking the enemy team and stopping hitters from the other team even though they work as hitters too. Some famous middle blockers are Flavio Resende from Brazil, Agustin Loser from Argentina, and Aleks Grozdanov from Bulgaria. These were the top middle blockers from the VNL. Nicolas Le Goff from french won the award for the best middle blocker from the VNL. He was able to stop a lot of hitters and scores many points for his team. Usually, middle blockers are the tallest person on the team. Nicolas Le Goff made 39 blocks and 59 hits.Â
