School spirit is one of the most important things when it comes to any school, especially high school. Bringing a school to life makes everyone feel more connected and has fond memories to look back on. The Multicultural Fair is a one-of-a-kind event at Manchester that brings us together every time. The Multicultural Fair is an annual event that connects all cultures and brings everyone at our school together. The fair is orchestrated and organized by one of the best teachers at our school, Mrs. Orsita, or Senora Orsita.Â
A lot of planning goes into this fair, like who will participate, the decorations, the dances, the food, etc. The point of the fair is to share with us the history of many countries and cultures around the world, and to give us a glimpse of what life is like in those countries. You’ll go to the fair during your English class period, and when you arrive there, they’ll give you a plane ticket. The plane ticket allows students to enter and get their tickets punched by all the different countries around the gym. When I went, I saw countries like Germany, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Bolivia, Scotland, etc.Â
There was A LOT of food, and I mean a lot. I went during first period, so I saw mostly breakfast. There was bacon, eggs, French toast, sausages, and that good stuff. There was also a Tiki Bar with Pina Coladas. I didn’t get one, but I saw my friends get some, and from what I remember from last year, they were really good. Since I’m taking a language class, I brought Arroz con leche, a dessert. I didn’t get to see anyone enjoy my dish or most of them, since I went early in the morning. My friend told me they had arroz chaufa, mangoo, chicken, abichuelas, pizza, pasta, and more, which I’m sure were all delicious.
Another part of the Multicultural Fair is the dances. During the fair, Orsita will announce that the dances will be starting soon. When I was there, I saw a dance from Germany. Their dance was great and looked pretty hard. I also saw a dance from Cuba. From what I saw, lots of effort was put into these dances, and just like last year, it adds a lot to the experience. It’s a nice break from work where you get to talk to your friends, eat a variety of delicious food, watch dances, and be surrounded by a fair that is alive and clearly has lots of love proud out into it every year.Â
Overall, the Multicultural Fair was amazing this year as always (even though I wish I hadn’t gone in the morning). The Fair, from what I heard and saw, was great. It had lots of food, delicious desserts, foods, drinks, and performances. Orsita did another great job this year, and she handles it well every year. She makes sure everything is organized, well done, and looks good. You gotta give some appreciation to Senora Orsita. I had her last year as my Spanish teacher, and she was my favorite teacher. So, props to Orsita and everyone who participated in the fair. Keep doing it every year, and don’t stop.
