There are numerous Hispanic role models around the world, and it’s time some of them get recognized for their hard work and contributions. One of the many role models that should be recognized is Gina Rodriguez. Gina Rodriguez isn’t just one of the best actresses but she also is contributing to changing the world by being an activist. Gina Rodriguez is an inspiring example as an actress, director, etc.
One thing that stood out to me about Gina Rodriguez is that she carries her Latin heritage anywhere she is whether it’s acting or not. Gina was one of the very few people who accepted their accomplishments with humbleness and genuine excitement. Gina is a great example of a role model for us Hispanic girls at such a young age, she allows us Hispanics to feel represented. Gina has been able to accomplish charities and many things for those who never had opportunities.
Gina Rodriguez came to realize that not all excellent performers have the same opportunities as she did. Which is one of the main reasons she established the “We Will Foundation”. It was designed to focus on education and scholarships for the less fortunate. It has already fundraised $10,000 to the Westside Family Health Clinic and $10,000 to the Mar Vista School Enrichment Group, for dance classes to be paid for one full year.
Gina Rodriguez created her own production company “I can and I will.” With the goal in mind to get more Latino representation in Hollywood. One of her latest missions is to end “period poverty” and its effect on educational opportunities. Around 5% of girls in the US have missed school due to the lack of access to products they need when they get their period. Gina partnered with a brand to bring attention to this problem, which aimed to donate 15 million period products to schools around us.
To conclude Gina is a great inspiration for many young girls, Gina thrives to give these girls the opportunity they all deserve.
