After one of the more challenging season’s in recent memory, MRHS Rocket League finished the regular season 5-2. The Falcons lost the final regular season game to Hoboken 3 rounds to 0, getting swept in the match. The Falcons were left heartbroken, knowing that the Division title was no longer within grasp. They set a new goal: win the state championship. After defeating Mercer Tech in the playoffs, the Falcons were set to face Hoboken in a rematch in the state semifinals.

The Falcons studied the film and practiced hard for a few weeks, coming to St. Elizabeth University focused and prepared to play. The Falcons lost the first round of the best of five series, and won three straight rounds to win the match. The Falcons had no time to waste, as they had just 15 minutes before the finals would begin. The Falcons were set to face off against Cape May Tech. The Falcons went down in the series 1-0, but were able to battle back. The series was tied at 1-1, and the Falcons were losing 4-0. They were able to score 4 consecutive goals, the last of which came as time expired, forcing overtime!

The Rocket League team went on to win the round in overtime, going up 2-1 in the series, and then went on to win the final round to take home the series and the state championship.
