We’ll Miss You, Mr. Hanna

One of our most beloved teachers, Mr. Hanna, passed away on April 14th, 2023 due to health complications. Mr. Hanna lived in Jersey City, New Jersey and worked at MRHS as an English teacher. Mr. Hanna was well known for “having his students’ backs” and making sure his students were safe or okay. He was a teacher that kids could talk to about their problems. He was also always down to share his food, and Mr. Hanna sometimes gave students donuts, especially the ones that loved checking in with him every day.

Mr. Hanna was not just a teacher that loved teaching others, he also had a love for superhero movies and video games. A lot of the students at Manchester remember his jokes, his suits, and his laugh. He always treated each of his students with respect and love. He genuinely cared about his students and really wanted them to do great things further on in life.

When asked about Mr. Hanna, the MRHS students were happy to share their memories. One MRHS junior who had Mr. Hanna during his freshman year said, “He was one of the teachers that I could go to about certain things. He always tried to help his students and make sure that they felt safe.” Another junior commented, “He was great at teaching writing skills and how to really format an essay. I mean I had him during virtual teaching, but he taught me how to write at a high school/college level.”

Not only did his students share some great qualities of Mr. Hanna, but some of his colleagues shared their favorite memories, too. One of his former colleagues said, “He was an amazing teacher/friend and he really made my MRHS experience better. He always made jokes and he always had a can-do attitude.”

Mr. Fady Hanna will always be in our thoughts and prayers. He was such a light in many peoples’ eyes and MRHS will always remember him. If you are still in mourning over his death please feel free to go to the Falcon’s Lounge during your lunch period or after school. They will be open to hearing about your thoughts and concerns.

We invite all those who knew Mr. Hanna to leave a tribute comment below letting us know how you feel and/or share a memory.
