
A Golden Retriever
The positive side to having a golden retrievers are one of the best dog breeds to get is because they are kid friendly, social, cute and affectionate dogs. They cuddle up with you, love playing games, and are mostly chosen as service dogs for people with bad anxiety or health issues. They also come in different colors. The negative side of having them is having to groom them everyday because they shed a lot, but it can be solvable with a steaming brush which bathes they’re fur and makes them shed less

Cats
Positive things about having a cat is that they are independent and are low maintenance since they bathe an care for themselves. Fun fact did you know that cats trigger the release of oxytocin(the “love hormone”) and lowers cortisol (a stress related hormone) and a cats purr vibrates at a frequency of 20-140Hz, which is medically therapeutic. It can lower blood pressure, relax the nervous system, even aid in healing of human bones and tissues. The only negative sid is that most of them do shed but it really depends on what breed of cat you buy.

Birds
The positive side to having a bird is that they have high intelligence such as being able to solve puzzles, using/holding tools, and learning complex tricks. Many birds can also learn how to mimic human speech, or common household sounds. They also have deep emotional bonds with you, they can help you with stress relief such as listening to a bird sing or by watching their playful antics. The negative side to having them is their noise level because they use noises to communicate, they may scream when you leave the room, or when they are happy, or simply because the sun is coming up but you can fix this by putting a blanket on their cage because it helps them know when it is time for bed and ect.

Beta Fish
The positives to having a beta fish that they have striking visual beauty and they are well known for their vibrate colors ranging between deep blues and reds to metallic shades and their long flowing fins, they are also low maintenance because they do not take a lot of space they should not be living in a tiny bowl, they should live in a 5 gallon tank, they also don’t really need filters because they have a special orang called a labyrinth which allows them to breathe air from the surface, and they have simple diets. The negative side to having betta fish are that they are solo dwellers which means they prefer to be alone especially male bettas they are extremely territorial, they need a specific temperature and have specific needs for their water, if you buy two male betta fish they will fight to the death because of how territorial they are, they also have health vulnerabilities so you will have to do some research on them before buying.

Guinea Pigs
The positive thing about having a Guinea pig are that they are very social and friendly, they enjoy attention and can bond easily with others, they also make cute noises and have fun personalities, they also are easy to feed they mostly eat hay, veggies, and pellets, they are decently small and easy to have in homes and can live up to 5-7 years with proper care. The negatives to having them are they need a clean cages and need daily care they can get smelly if they aren’t cleaned, they can be shy at times and get scared easily so it’s important to be gentle and careful with them, they also need a companion they live better with another guinea pig , and are sensitive to extreme temperatures.

Hedgehogs
The positives to having a hedgehog is that they have cute and unique appearances and are fun to watch and hold, they are also quiet pets they don’t make much noise and are small and easy to house. They can be friendly with regular, gentle handling and have are cute when they roll into a ball. The negatives to having them are that they are nocturnal so they are mostly active at night, which could be inconvenient for most people, when you first get them they can be shy or prickly, they also have a special diet and proper habitat with heat, they also require regular cage cleanings, and can also carry diseases like salmonella so you have to wash your hands after handling them.

Bearded Dragons
The positive things to having a bearded dragon is that they are friendly and calm species, they are low maintenance compares to dogs and cats, they also live up to 10-15 years if they are properly cared for, they eat a variety of foods like vegetables and insects. The negative things are that they need heated lamps, UVB lighting, and regulated temperature. They’re tanks also require regular cleanings to prevent bacteria, and can carry salmonella so you have to make sure to hand wash them and wash your hands after handling them. Another negative is that the live insects can be messy or run around the tank.

Lizards
The positive thing about having a lizard is that they are very low maintenance compared to most house pets, they are very interesting to watch because they have unique behaviors and movements, many different types of lizards can live a long time with proper care, and they don’t make nose like other pets and can be handled, depending on what species of lizard it is. The negatives to having them could be having to buy all the special habitat items such as heat lamps, UVB, lighting, and proper humidity, some lizards can be shy or stressed easily, make sure to wash your hands because they can also carry salmonella, some of them can grow large and require more space.

River Cooter Turtles
The positive things to having river cooter’s are that they are interesting to watch, they love swimming, eating, and exploring their tanks and playing with they’re pebbles at the bottom of the tank. They can 20-30 years, they are mostly peaceful and low-maintenance compared to most other ones. The negative things about having them are that they need huge tanks with clean water, UVB lighting, and need a basking area, they also produce a lot of waste and the tanks need frequent cleaning, can carry salmonella and you have to wash your hands after carrying them, they could sometimes bite if you startle them, they require a varied diet including vegetables, insects, and pellets.
