Purses have come a long way from their origins as simple carry bags in the 18th century. Today, they make powerful fashion statements and often act as status symbols. For many students, a purse is also a necessity. “My purse is like my survival kit—I keep everything from snacks to charges in there,” said sophomore Maya Patel. Purses typically hold essentials such as phones, wallets, hygiene products, and personal items that students need throughout the school day.
Fashion and function go hand in hand for many teens. As a student, I see purses as both a means of personal expression and a practical necessity.
